REVERIE

A girl fights the monstrous manifestation of her grief when it threatens to destroy her escapist fantasy world.

Reverie follows the story of Dawn, a late teenager who suffered the tragic loss of her mother when she was young. To protect herself from her trauma, Dawn dreams up the Reverie; a fantastical world where she has magical powers. One day, she is ambushed by Grief, a monster who can shapeshift into five different forms indicative of the five stages of grief. As the two trade blows, their fight turns violent and shatters the Reverie, forcing Dawn to come to terms with her own pain by reliving both her fond and painful memories of her mother. In the end, she embraces Grief’s last form, Acceptance, before waking up and facing reality.
